The Neo – Coptic style of iconography originates in Egypt. There are also  many other traditions  – Russian, Greek , Eastern, Byzantine.

At present I am studying the Neo-coptic style.  I find the simplicity and purity of the line and form both accessible and appealing as It contains a mix of ancient iconography and the freshness of modern art.

I was introduced into this art form from Dr. Stephane Rene who studied for many years under Professor Isaac Fanous, the father of  the Neo – Coptic school of iconography.
